ING Program - Power for Youth

We consider it our responsibility to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. We are mainly focused on young people as we believe that good financial habits are developed at an early age. We contribute by creating financial understanding and entrepreneurial awareness by funding research, donating funds, offering core knowledge, expertise and skills

That’s why an extraordinary partnership between ING Group and UNICEF has been developed throughout the years, fully linked to ING’s purpose of empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and in business. It is built on a vision of making a positive contribution to the lives of children in the many communities around the world where both ING and UNICEF are active.

The first decade - 2005-2015: providing children with access to quality education 

Since the launch of the partnership in 2005, ING has played an important role in providing access to better quality education, safer and healthier living conditions especially for children in remote areas. When we started, 115 million children worldwide were not enrolled in primary education. These efforts resulted in a fall in the number of children that dropped out of school by 40% between 2000 and 2012.

The second decade – 2015 and onwards: empowering adolescents to improve their future

ING and UNICEF are proud of what they have accomplished for children and are eager to further build on that success, helping their transition successfully from childhood to adulthood. Indeed, we believe that the best time to invest in this generation is not when they find themselves unemployed, but at an earlier stage when their critical thinking and problem-solving skills can be easily honed. 

The world currently has 1.2 billion adolescents (aged 10–19), nearly 90 per cent of whom live in developing countries and need support. We aim to empower those teenagers by providing them with the skills and tools they need to become future entrepreneurs and leaders.

ING Luxembourg’s action to empower the Young in Zambia

Within ING Luxembourg, we focus on Zambia. UNICEF, with the support of ING, will empower the most marginalized adolescent girls and boys in Zambia so they can make informed decisions about their own lives and future; be civically engaged and supported by parents and communities as well as enabling policies and social services to reach their full potential.

In 2013-2014, our donation of 67,500 EUR to UNICEF-Luxembourg financed the construction of a new primary school in one of the most rural areas of Zambia. In 2015-2016, we continue! By paying for all your purchases with your « Visa ING Luxembourg » card you will empower youngsters.

“Run for UNICEF”

ING Luxembourg’ employees get together to raise funds via a race. Indeed each year, ING Luxembourg’ employees and their families run or walk, in Koeckelscheuer’ woods, 5 or 10 km at their own pace and share after a friendly barbecue.
